Fri. Jul 23rd 2010
Around 0130 a Holley Police Officer on patrol of the village found personal belongings, fishing poles empty beer cans and a bike on the edge of the Erie Canal Towpath with what appeared to be slide marks in to the canal. The police officer requested the fire department to search the area for a possible person in the water. Holley firefighters with assistance from Hulberton, Clarendon, Brockport, and Carlton fire departments along with NY State Police and the Orleans County Sheriffs office spent several hours searching for a person in and around the water. Around 0630 the owner of the belongings on the canal bank came to retrieve his property and the search was discontinued. Pictures available at Orleansfirewire.com
